The California Women’s Conference is being held in Long Beach next week on May 19th and 20th. I live nearby and am excited to attend. It’s a place where powerful and influential women from all walks of life share their stories, encourage others and celebrate each other.
Sheri Riley, Life Strategist and Michelle Patterson, President of The California Women’s Conference are sharing 3 simple principles that can help us to strike a little balance in our often hectic lives:
As moms our top priority is our family, if you’re anything like many moms today, you often struggle to give your family the time they deserve. Three challenges many mothers face are:
– When you are with your family, you fight the feeling of getting behind at work
– When at work you feel guilty about not spending enough time with your family
– When you are spending time with your family, you have to focus on making sure you are really present and not just in their presence
Whether you are a wife, mother, daughter, stay-at-home Mom, or have a job, life/work integration is not easy, but there are ways to make it simpler. There are some key principles that will help you make choices that align with your number one priority, your family. These principles will help you to integrate your professional responsibilities with your family commitments.
These are three principles of the nine in Exponential Living, which empowers people to stop spending 100% of their time on 10% of who they are.
Healthy Living is about More Than Diet!
There is more to life than the race to achieve more money or a fancy job title. And, there is more to living healthy than what food you ingest or what physical exercises you do. Other lifestyle decisions, such as those related to marriage, parenting, and friendships, all factor into one’s healthy sense of self. Healthy living requires being true to yourself and being truly “present” when you’re with loved ones.
Happy is a Choice; Contentment and Joy are Lifestyles
When you truly desire to live a life that is fulfilled in all areas, you are destined to have more to do than you have the time, energy, and ability or help to accomplish or complete. When you have so many responsibilities that you can’t “handle” or manage everything, your reaction is that you are overwhelmed. Knowing that life’s struggles are never to defeat you but to make you stronger and uncover your true power, you can experience peace living in the overflow, joy and abundance of being overwhelmed. When being invited to speak at the United Nations on her daughter’s birthday Michelle Patterson initially turned down the speech until they informed her that her daughter could come with her. While at the United Nations when the audience found out it was her daughter’s birthday they sung happy birthday to her. Which is a memory that will last Jaclyn a lifetime, I believe this example demonstrates that life isn’t an either/or scenario you can have joy and abundance.
Build Lasting Confidence
Believe it or not, whatever you want is available to you if you have the confidence and belief that you can have what you want and that you deserve it. This does not mean confidence in our degrees, our knowledge, job titles, position, social status, etc. Instead, it is about having a pure and honest confidence in the person you are. True confidence should come from a life well lived and enjoyed.
So many of us are working everyday to fully integrate our personal dreams, our family commitments, and our career responsibilities. Committing our time to personal growth, is the best example for our children, that personal and professional development is more than academics.
Michelle and I are so excited to share with you these principles as just a small sample of what you would learn this year at the 29th annual California Women’s Conference. Previously put on by the 1st lady of the State of California I’m excited to be a speaker and an attendee this year.
The panel discussions and the interaction with women from around the world will provide actions steps that will help mom’s like you and I, create the best life for our families. This is the ultimate gift we can give to ourselves and our families.
Speakers this year include Arianna Huffington, Jane Pauley, Jack Canfield, Rosie Perez, and Lisa Nichols and some of my favorite discussions for moms this year are:
Creating Legacy Families. Strengthen your family now and learn to prepare your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and generations to follow to live fuller, richer, and more fulfilled lives and Grow Your Family Strong in addition to numerous other sessions ranging from discussions on growing your business or career to improving your financial situation.
You can register online for the conference being held Monday, May 19th and Tuesday, May 20th.
