The V Spot

Rants, observations and home decorating from a woman with no time for a blog.

Good lighting + good lamps = rooms you want to spend time in.

Lamps and lighting make all the difference when it come to how a room feels.  You could have a million dollar room design, and if it were only illuminated by a 100 watt bulb on a ceiling fixture, it would affect the entire room in a really negative way.

We all have rooms in our homes that are a challenge in some way or another… either the shape is difficult, or furniture placement is a puzzle, (or you have a horrible, wonky, asymmetrical mantel), or you have lighting issues.  Sometimes all of those things at once.

I definitely have lighting issues in our living room.  We have an entire wall of windows, but they face North and the room somehow always seems to be dark.  I took these shots at noon… with the shutters opened up completely to the street.  This is the brightest this room will be.  (As long as we don’t worry about privacy.)

… and it’s all light at noon.  The morning?  Later in the day?  Kind of gloomy.  Good lighting is a must.

I think these new Color + Plus™ coordinating lamps and shades from Lamps Plus are something we need to consider.

Color Plus lamps and coordinating shades

Since I change up my colors every Christmas, I think it would be so awesome to have a few blue lamps in my living room this year.  The ones I have currently are rather boring and monochromatic.  I need to do something about this!

One light in each corner of the room.

Exciting, right?  Obviously lamps provide light for a room, but they also should say something about your style.  These say “Vivienne is a little bit boring…”  Sigh.

I think Santa should bring me some new lighting.  Have you checked out these Color + Plus™ coordinating lamps and shades yet?  What’s on your lighting wish list?

You are anything but boring. How about some polka dots? lol

Holy smokes though.. those are a lot of lamp color choices. Cool how they show the SW paint color too. Neat trick.

Boo I hate having bad lighting in my house! I used to live in the worlds dumpiest apartment which ALSO had the worlds worst natural light. Now I live in a place with great natural light and it's made a huge different. But I still love lamp...s. These are super cute!
