Fixer Upper update... choosing the color palette.

One of my favorite parts of any room re-do is picking the colors.

You may recall that my friends Rick & Jodi are fixing up one of Rick's rental properties.  It. Needs. Work.  I created a Pinterest inspiration board for them.  Rick is an avid sailor and we want to have a nod towards beachy and nautical without veering off-course into theme-y.  (I can not pass up any opportunity for cheesy puns.  It's a sickness.)

After many paint chips, several samples painted on the walls, and much discussion, they went with Benjamin Moore's Smoke for the walls and the lighter Palest Pistachio for the hallway and accents.

This was the Before of the living room
Of course getting rid of all of the crap the previous tenants left behind helped quite a bit... but with the paint starting to go up on the walls, it's starting to look soooo much better!

After: The color in the photo is reading much more blue than it really is. It actually has quite a bit of gray in it.
Lots of neutral color and texture needs to come in here to balance all of this blue.  I can see it in my head. (And it's really pretty and warm there.) I'm excited to see it start coming together!

Happy Monday!

I'm always delighted when you see how much a room changes even with the slightest touch of paint! This room is already taking shape!

That looks soooo much better! I like that color palate.

Just bought a cardigan kind of that color over the weekend.

Oh! I really like that blue, I know you said it's more blueish in the picture, but I really like it. It really brightens the room up.

My living room and kitchen are both this horrid blue/green color, I think I'm going to paint it this fall so long as my landlady allows it. I'm sick of looking at it!

I love the nautical theme! Its one of my favorites!! I can't help but to always want to pick up a sailing picture or a big ship pic when I'm out.. it was the theme of my son's room when he was born (albeit kiddie style)... it is still a fav!
did you see my email about my idea to give help to bloggers on rooms?
