Get the benefits of cinnamon by brewing it in your coffee.

Cinnamon.
Makes me think of yummy baked goods and spicy good smells... It's good stuff, that cinnamon.

In addition to its over-all yumminess, recent studies have been showing that cinnamon can provide added health benefits.  It has fiber and calcium, which helps to improve colon health and to fight heart disease.  It also has been shown to:
  • help lower LDL (the bad) cholesterol
  • help to regulate blood sugar in diabetics
  • have anti-clotting effect on the blood
  • helps fight yeast infections
  • boost brain function and cognitive processes
There's a ton of info out there.  Just google benefits of cinnamon.

Here's how I get my daily dose of cinnamon:

Yep.  Shake a little cinnamon right on top of the coffee and brew as usual.  (I don't have a Kureig, so if you do, well, I don't know what to tell you...)  It adds a little sumpthin' sumpthin' to my coffee each morning AND it helps me to get a little cinnamon in each day.

(And then of course, I take the used coffee grounds into the shower with me...)

It's the little things that we do regularly that help us stay healthy.  It may not seem like much, but it all adds up.

You just blew my mind! First of all I am a fairly new fan, so I never read the coffee in the shower blog. Oh my jeez, I have some fresh grounds waiting to give me a foot scrub. And I LOVE cinnamon, I never thought to put it in my coffee. Great post! Can't wait to tell my friends! =0)

yum!! That sounds really good!
it would probably be better calorie wise than eating a large arse cinnamon roll from STarbucks.. and cheaper!

Oh my goodness I love this idea! I had no idea about the benefits of cinnamon or using it during the brewing process. I am always trying to find new ways to be healthy and I am an avid coffee drinker. I write a blog about chic/cheap living and would love to feature this on my blog and link to yours. I've been looking for a great way to spice up my cheap coffee and this would be a great idea for taste and health! Email me and let me know what u think about me linking to you.

I'm forwarding this post to my husband. He needs all the help he can get to lower his cholesterol. You told us about this before, I think, but I keep forgetting to try it!

Yum! I put it in my coffee daily ( iced coffee this time of year). I still love the coffee grounds post. It brings a smile to my face :)

I have a keurig and use my own coffee. It has a little container Thingy you can buy separate to put your own coffee in. So you could put cinnamon in there.

I don't like coffee but I do drink Chai Latte from time to time- does that count for cinnamon in take?? Or how about Cinnamon Toast Crunch (my favorite cereal by far)? I am not being a smart a&^, I am serious...do these count? I had no idea the importance of cinnamon. You are always so resourceful!!

My favorite toast topping is a spread of peanut butter topped with a VERY generous sprinkling of cinnamon and then I put on some honey and stir the 3 toppings around on top of the toast.
It blends together perfectly and I get the benefits of honey and cinnamon together.

This sounds yummy, I'll put it in my decaf as DH would not appreciate it in his morning brew. HOWEVER, what a really wanted to tell you was how the photo of your coffee grounds & filter reminded me of a big flower---a cheerful coffee flower!

This sounds yummy! It would be great if you came over to Cast Party Wednesday tomorrow and shared some of your recipes.
Thanks,
I hope to see you there!

I have had trouble with the water overflowing the grounds basket when I put cinnamon in with the grounds. Instead, I started buying cinnamon sticks and throwing one in the pot itself while it brews. You can use the same stick a couple of times.

I love, love, love my cinnamon coffee!
