Blinky McBlinkerton's Vlog

Shawn & Mamarazzi have created.....
Photobucket

This month's prompts were:
  • Share a hidden talent
  • Share something your readers might be surprised to know about you
  • Share a favorite piece of furniture or decor
I promise you that it I have a talent I have already blogged about it. Ditto for sharing decor or furniture. (In fact, that pretty much IS my talent...)

GAH!!! I've b een trying to get this stupid thing recorded FOREVAH! OK, here's the sitch: the battery is dying on the camera. It keeps shutting down on me. Therefore, the rest of my vlog is, well, typed.

WHAT I WOULD HAVE SAID IF MY CAMERA BATTERY DIDN'T DIE:
Unless I wanted to listen to classical or country or a Dodgers game, I listened to nothing. So when all of my jr. high friends were talking about Judas Priest or Cheap Trick or Iron Maiden, and writing those bands' names all over their Pee-Chee folders, I felt really stupid, because I had no idea what they sounded like.

So I did what any normal 7th grader would have done... I was a great big faker and wrote them all over my folders too, praying that no one would ask me any detailed questions like "So what's your favorite song...?" I was faking what I had to in order to feel like I was fitting in.

Then one summer I went and stayed with a friend who lived at the beach. The beach was only about 45 minutes from my town, but it might as well have been on the other side of the world as far as how different the, ahem, culture was. They listened to punk.

They introduced me to the Sex Pistols and The Dead Kennedys and The Plasmatics.... And ya know what? I LOVED it! The whole counter-culture, anti-thing that they had going really resonated with me.

I learned a lesson that I find applicable to this day: search out the things that make you happy... that make you comfortable... that build your confidence. If you gauge your personal preferences by committee, you will never be an individual.**

**Boys reading this post: personal preference does not include whether or not you clean your room, do your homework or brush your teeth.

Okay, I'm back.
Nope, you don't look like a punk rocker. And, you suck because as soon as you said you had a mohawk my first thought was, "Can we see a picture???"
Foiled!

I love punk music too! Thanks to this guy I dated in high school, I totally got into the punk rock stuff. Hubby now, is into punk rock, 80's hair bands, Grunge (Nirvana forever!), and we love Green Day! LOL!

Ok so about your voice. Deeper then I thought. Which is weird cuz I've heard you narrate videos of your kids before. Ok & lastly I just wanna say... you are super cute. LOVE the hat & scarf.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!! You are too cute! And you're right...you totally don't look like a punk rocker.

Now, going back to that infamous picture...we NEEEEEEED to see a pic. If you won't post it on here, will you at least bring it with you to Dallas? We'll have a toast to your mohawk! ;)

Good job and I'm so glad I can put a voice with your face!

Awe I love you too! You are one of my friends that I would jump on a plane for in your hour of need!

Punk rock? Hmmmm that does surprise me. AND I expect a picture of that mohawk tucked inside the video of you dancing with Regis!

Love, love, love the hat!

Thanks for playing, please send in some questions for next month so you can play along again.

OK...now I have to get a cool hat like that. I love it. you look cool. I bet you looked even cooler when you had a mohawk. OK...now I cannot get a hat like that...I don't want to be another sheep in the pen. :)

baa baa i want to get a hat like yours (even if it makes me a sheep, sheep are cute)

i also think i want to live in your house, just from what i have seen on your blog and what is in the background. love your style.

you are rad. thanks for saying you like me. even if it was just so i wouldn't feel bad about your undying love and devotion for Shawn...it was a nice thing to say and i like people who say nice things...so thanks.

i can kinda see the whole punk rock thing...i can even imagine the mohawk. but i also try really hard not to judge a book by it's cover so i don't think many things truly surprise me.

i do love the story of how you developed your love for punk rock tho...ahhh the peechee folder days.

thanks for playing along even though the questions were lame.

you should totally submit some for one of the upcoming months!!

I think you look even cuter in the video than you do in your pics (which is a compliment). :)

P.S. I would have loved to see your fave piece of furniture or talent...I have been so busy, I miss a lot!

I am totally surprised.

iKeith tells me that he liked Punk Rock at one time and even wore a dog collar. I can't picture this AT ALL.

Can you point me in the direction of a fav song? I'd like to listen.

I LOVE this Viv!! Just makes me love you even more. I would NEVER have guessed you to be a punk rocker! :) I like it.

Oh, and is it wrong that I don't know these Peechee folders you are all gushing about?? Maybe I wasn't cool enough to have them?

LOVE the vlog! Hearing everyone's voice is so fun!

I love what I can see of your house! So pretty!

I struggled with coming up with a hidden talent as well. My husband said mine was nagging. :)

Really? a mohawk? I would have never thought that.
