Scene: Our family is walking through a pedestrian tunnel on our way to an amusement park. The tunnel is painted a bright shade of purple.
Mitch: "My friend Geno would love this tunnel. He'd probably move in if he could."
All of us: "Um, why?"
Mitch: "Because purple is his favorite color."
Grant: "But.... Geno is a boy...."
Yep... Gender stereotyping is firmly in place by the age of 6. What's a mom to do? (Other than laugh?)

Just like when Jack yells loudly, "Hey mom, is that a boy or a girl??" Nice.

Yep it definitely takes over at a young age!
It's true!!! We bought our boys dolls when they were tiny so they'd learn how to be empathetic or some crap, and it didn't work. They tried to cook em in our oven and stuff.
BTW, so sad to see that Peptolicious jeep is from Oregon.
Ha ha ha Macey made me take a double take, the Jeep is totally from Oregon. I have to admit I'm a bit embarrassed. My girls always pull the whole "But Mom that is a boy color/thing" It happens soooo early.
This explains so much about my brother in law....
Caleb says, at 3, that pink is for girls. Where do they pick up on this stuff? I love that Grant...keepin it real.
bah! it clicks in by 6?!
my brother about lost his mind when my nephew would NOT STOP ASKING for ruby red girl's shoes. i think my brother feared that it meant his son was gay. ugh. of course i am secretly hoping my nephew IS gay, just so it would HOPEFULLY and EVENTUALLY make my brother a more tolerant (and more tolerable) person.
and I giggle that there is actually Barbie in the tire cover.
This is a classic on so many levels!
Boys don't like purple? Oh no!
