My husband. I lean left, he is firmly planted on the right. Dinner conversations have often been, uh, lively.
He began to read my posted response to my brother-in-law and he got so irritated he had to shut down the page. We have had the "point is completely lost in the delivery" debate over Ann Coulter before.
I'm paraphrasing, but I pretty much got: Your stuff used to be funny and now it's just dry and boring. And you don't know what you're talking about and it's poorly written. I'm not reading this anymore.
The minute I begin writing with an eye for what someone else might think about it, I've lost the purpose of this blog. It's for me. If other people like it in the meantime - that's great. No? Then don't read it.
It's a good thing I know he prefers brunettes to blondes or I might be worried.

Well....I'm glad you took the time to respond to my previous comment.
In turn, I'd like to make the following final return comments (all in love and fun spirit no less):
1) Sorry you lost your reader. The best real world analogy I can relate this to is the recent decline in readership to The Los Angeles Times (and like minded papers). When it becomes clear that views represented are of one mind set and sounds good among the flock writing them, don't be surprised when the readers leave when they (being removed from the hive like mentatlity) realize there is actually more than one viewpoint. And in no means am I suggesting you have a 'hive like' mentality...I know you well enough to be an independant thinker...albeit sometimes flawed :)
2) Equating Ann Coulter to a 'goose-stepping Nazi'...well, I suppose is what may have set Rich off...Perhaps you're writing for dramatic effect, but that is pretty harsh and an extreme linkage. Sometimes I think she is the way she is for either: A) ratings -or- B) trying to make a name for herself in which she 'thinks' is only a man's realm, and she needs to be outrageous at times in order to get attention and make a name for herself.
3) I still stand by my statement that Bill is fair (or at least more fair than others). He admits when he is wrong, he usually gives guests the last word, always thanks them even for dissenting opinions, and mainly cuts through the political correct-massaged 'spin' that politicians have mastered. I've seen him equally hammer on both moderates and republicans in the past as well. If you have never seen him rant on republicans, then you haven't been watching very long.
4) I agree with you on polls and statistics. They are definetly crafted for soundbytes or in such a way that even the answers can be re-interpreted 100 ways.
5) While 'yelling' may not work in the long run.....I tend to yell as well, when people hear what they want to hear and believe that is what the people want....and its the farthest thing from the truth. Take a very hot topic like immigration. Washington has decided amongst themselves what America wanted...yet somewhere along the line they forgot to ask all of us in the Southwest....hence the surprising (to them, not us here) backlash they got the last two years when they were talking guest-worker/amnesty. They often 'think' they speak for us...yet never bothered to 'ask' us...instead they listened to the special interest groups and lobbyists, and other cause of the month groups. And I don't think Bill ever called for anyone to be killed....he is actually very vocal against capital punishement.
5) Yeah, I don't have an explanation for the lack of conservative shows either. That's a debate in itself. My personal opinion is with cable networks (as a whole) and the types of shows they put on, the last thing they want on the air is a show that may actually hold people accounatble for their actions, teach responsibility, and support a decent moral code.....that's too representative of us 'nut job' right wingers 'who know everything'...No one wants to hear at 5pm when they get home from work that they need to *gasp* spend wuality family time with their kids...or late nite TV that shows like Swingtown may represent immorality. The Ozzie and Harriet day are long gone.
My reader will be back eventually. He's just "refusing to have a discussion" which is somthing he frequently accuses the left of doing. We'll move on. :)
On points 3, 4, 5 and um 5... duly noted. but:
On Ann Coulter: I think she's a horrible woman who wants to sell books and stir the pot. There is nothing of any use (to anyone) in anything she says or does. Some of my favorite quotations from Ms. Coulter:
"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."
"There are no good Democrats."
"God says, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.' "
"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."
"So you know, you say something and somehow 'Betty Boop' comes out 'Adolf Hitler'!"
So yes, her smug, "I am right everyone else is an idiot, wrong, or should be killed" makes her look like a Nazi. I don't think I'm exaggerating.
